A Harrogate pre-school has received an ‘outstanding’ rating in its latest Ofsted report.

Inspectors praised St John’s Playgroup on Bilton Lane for its “robust, yet flexible, settling-in process for children”.

It said staff were “inspiring” and “parents were overwhelmingly positive about the pre-school.”

The report added:

Staff know their key children exceptionally well and how to support any possible gaps in learning. They have high expectations of what they want children to learn and of children's behaviour. This helps all children to make excellent progress.

The pre-school, which offers childcare for children aged two to four, has improved on its last inspection when it was rated ‘Good’.

Inspectors said “the way in which the pre-school staff support children to explore their feelings is exceptional. Caring staff explore a range of feelings and emotions with each child".

The playgroup shared a post to social media which said:

We're thrilled to announce that St Johns Preschool has achieved the highest possible outcome in our recent Ofsted inspection. We are outstanding!

A huge thank you to our incredible team for their hard work, dedication, and passion for education. This outcome and report really reflects all they set out to achieve.

We'd also like to express our gratitude to our entire preschool community - parents, children, committee and everyone involved - for your continued support.
