A Harrogate running club has appealed for entries after a slow take-up to one of the premier events on the local race calendar.
The Guy Fawkes 10, organised by Nidd Valley Road Runners, usually attracts about 1,000 entrants. But the sign-up rate so far this year is down.
It follows a change of venue from Ripley to Pateley Bridge due to the Ripley estate being put up for sale.
Club chairman Martin Lofthouse said in an email to members today (August 6) the "race is selling much slower than it has in previous years".
Mr Lofthouse added:
This could be for any number of reasons, but is likely to be a combination of Ripley no longer being available, forcing a move to Pateley Bridge, and the general slowing of sales for most races.
We've sold a little over 400 places since the end of March and need to sell 800 overall to break even. Only sales after this point translate to a profit for the club.
Mr Lofthouse said the 10-mile race, which will begin and end at Nidderdale Showground on Sunday, November 11, will definitely go-ahead.
The race previously started and finished in Ripley but uncertainty caused by the Ingilby family's decision to sell its village estate prompted the move to Pateley Bridge.
Competitors will run through Bewerley, Glasshouses, Darce Banks, Dacre, Heyshaw and Nought Moor before descending back to Bewerley.
Entry is £18. More information is available here.
