Harrogate school receives outstanding Ofsted report
A Harrogate school has been rated 'outstanding’ in three of four areas assessed by Ofsted.
Government inspectors visited Oatlands Junior School for two days in January.
The school, which is part of Red Kite Learning Trust, a multi-academy trust of 14 schools in Yorkshire, received ‘outstanding’ grades for behaviour and attitudes, personal development and leadership and management.
It was rated ‘good’ for quality of education.
The report said:
Pupils love coming to Oatlands Junior School. They know learning will be interesting and fun every day. Pupils are polite and respectful. They demonstrate high levels of attendance and an exemplary attitude to learning. Pupils are proud of their school and are enthusiastic ambassadors for it.
Inspectors praised the school’s “ambitious” curriculum:
Pupils, including those with special educational needs and/or disabilities, learn the curriculum very well. Pupils achieve consistently high standards. Many exceed the expected standard for their age in national tests.
Teachers have strong subject knowledge and prioritise pupil reading, inspectors said.
The report also praised the school’s enthusiasm to develop pupils’ character and resilience. Effective safeguarding measures are also in place.

We will continue to build on our strengths and hope to work even more closely with our feeder school, Oatlands Infants, to ensure every pupil receives the best possible start to their educational journey.
