Two Harrogate primary schools are set to offer free pre-school forest school sessions
Hookstone Chase Primary School and New Park Primary School will host the sessions after the Easter holidays until the end of the summer term.
The schools said in a joint press release the initiative is designed for children aged from two-years-old and provides a holistic, child-centred approach to learning.
The sessions will include activities such as fire lighting, toasting marshmallows, forest crafts using natural materials, mud kitchen play and den building.
Hollie Bailey, a trained forest school leader and primary school teacher at New Park, said:
Forest school is widely recognised for its positive impact on children’s confidence, resilience and wellbeing.
By spending time outdoors in all weathers, children are encouraged to explore, take safe risks, problem-solve and develop a deep connection with the natural world. These early experiences help nurture independence, creativity and a lifelong love of learning.
