Harrogate Town are expecting one of their biggest crowds of the season for tonight’s Yorkshire derby against Doncaster Rovers.
The match, which kicks off at 8pm, will be broadcast live on Sky Sports Main Event.
It promises to be a stern challenge for Simon Weaver’s men, as Rovers are top of English Football League Division Two while Town are languishing in 20th place after five matches of the season.
Speaking ahead of the match, Weaver said:
We know it’s a tough challenge against a strong Doncaster team in form, but we are expecting a good crowd. I think they will be right behind us. They know that we will be up for the game.
Town have only scored four goals in the league this season and the manager said his team “need to pose a threat and start scoring at home".
He added:
The onus is on us as the home team to perform. A big part of that is getting fans whipped us.
Now’s the time in a derby to come alive and bring a 90-minute performance to the table and show the fans what it means to us.
As for the prospect of the Sky Sports cameras being in town, Weaver said:
It always adds a little bit of excitement and I’m sure our lads will be buzzing for the fixture.
