Bilton's Local

A second robbery has taken place in the space of 10 days on the same street in the Bilton area of Harrogate.

Two men wielding a stick threatened staff just before 6pm at the Bilton’s Local shop on King Edward’s Drive yesterday (January 29).

They ordered staff to open the till but ran off empty-handed when challenged.

In a statement this afternoon, North Yorkshire Police said officers were appealing for witnesses, dashcam and doorbell footage.

The statement added:

After leaving the store, we believe the suspects ran along King Edward’s Drive towards Bilton Lane.

We are appealing to anyone who was in the area at the time and witnessed the incident to get in touch.

We’re also asking motorists and residents to check their dashcam and doorbell video footage last night to see if it has captured the suspects in the area, either approaching the store or running away from it.

The incident took place 10 days after a supermarket worker was punched in the face during a robbery at Morrisons Daily on King Edward’s Drive, as reported here by the Stray Ferret.

The two shops are just a third of a mile apart.

The first suspect in the latest incident is described as white, approximately 5ft 10in tall, of slim build, and wearing black trousers and a black jacket. He was also wearing a black hat and face covering and was wearing a rucksack.

The second suspect is described as white, approximately 5ft 10in tall, and of slim build. He was also wearing all black clothing, including a black face covering, a rucksack and carrying an implement described as a stick.

Anyone with information is urged by police to call 101 and pass on information for incident number 12250017712. If you wish to remain anonymous, you can pass information to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
