Harrogate is to get a new roundabout over the next couple of months, as North Yorkshire Council makes major changes on Skipton Road to accommodate the new Tesco supermarket at New Park.
Asked about the inevitable roadworks, a Tesco spokesperson told the Stray Ferret:
We want to thank residents for their patience during the highways works which will begin on August 18 on Skipton Road.
They will last for eight weeks and are vital to upgrade the road network and create a new roundabout at the entrance to our new Harrogate superstore.
An eight-week period from August 18 would end on October 13. The supermarket is due to open in October.
The New Park Tesco site plan by S+SA Architects.
According to the One Network website, whose map is continually updated with information about current and forthcoming roadworks, the project will involve temporary one-way systems and road closures:
The existing 7.5-tonne environmental weight restriction on Otley Road in Killinghall will be suspended for the duration of these works.
The Stray Ferret has contacted Tesco for comment and more information about traffic management measures planned over the next two months.
