Harrogate Town AFC women’s team booked their tickets into the quarter finals of the County Cup on Sunday (February 16).
Town progress through to the next round after a comprehensive 6-2 victory over Bradford side Wyke Wanderers.
Six different players made it onto the scoresheet: Rochelle Ramroop, Hannah Shuttleworth, Hannah Sturdy, Scarlett Oldridge, Tallulah Freeman and Rhian Edmondson.
The pick of the bunch was the opener from Ramroop, who fired the ball into the top left corner from the right-edge of the box following a defence splitting pass from Shuttleworth.
Harrogate narrowly escaped a cup upset after a 3-2 win over Morley Town in the previous round in January.
The Sulphurites, who are in the Premier League of the North East Regional Women’s Football League, will face Silsden Ladies in the next round, who play in the Premier League of the West Riding County Women’s Football League.
This is the same league that Morley Town and Harrogate Railway play in and is two tiers below Harrogate Town’s league.
Town will join Knaresborough Town in the quarter finals, who progressed after an impressive victory over Harrogate Railway on Sunday. The two sides will also be joined by semi-professional side Leeds United Women’s, amongst others.
Leeds United will be a team to watch out for in this competition. They defeated Ilkley Town 9-0 on Sunday, after having previously beaten Huddersfield Amateur Ladies 21-0 in the first round.
Town’s quarter final fixture will take place at 2pm on Sunday, March 16, at Rossett Sports Centre.
