Harrogate Town are set for a crunch FA Cup second round tie tonight in front of the TV cameras.
Town welcome Gainsborough Trinity to the Exercise Stadium, where they will hope to make the third round for the first time since the 2021/22 season.
Trinity are the lowest ranked side left in the competition and are unbeaten in nine games in all competitions.
Both sides will be hoping to make it into the next round, where they could face Premier League opposition such as Liverpool and Manchester City.
Simon Weaver, Harrogate manager, said the match will be a big test for his players.
He said:
It’s a huge game. Obviously, we want to make it three wins on the bounce. But, it’s the FA Cup, it’s a massive game for the club in order to get to the third round.
It’s not just because of the magic of it because it’s on television. It’s a full crowd at our ground and what it does for our community if we do manage to get through and beat Gainsborough.
Weaver will still be without the trio of George Thomson, Liam Gibson and Ellis Taylor, though is hopeful of having both Matty Foulds (ankle) and Matty Daly (hamstring) back for the second round tie.
Meanwhile, Gainsborough will be looking to make history and make the FA Cup third round for the first time in 137 years.
The Lincolnshire club, who play three divisions below Harrogate in the Northern Premier League, beat Hednesford Town on penalties to make it to the second round.
The match will be live on BBC Two this evening at 7.45pm.
