The food hall at Marks & Spencer in Harrogate town centre was closed to customers this morning due to a power failure.

The main lights on the lower ground floor went out at around 11am, but the refrigerating units, which run on a different circuit, appeared to still be working.

The floor was closed to customers.

Although there was enough light to move around, managers took the decision to close that part of the store for reasons of health and safety.

At the time of publication, staff were still working to remedy the situation.

The main body of the store, including the clothing and café sections, remained open to customers.
