Harrogate’s Over & Above named in UK's top 50 cocktail bars

An independent Harrogate cocktail bar has been named among the UK's top 50 bars.
Over & Above, on Cheltenham Crescent, was placed 38th in the Franklin & Sons Top 50 Cocktail Bars list.
The speakeasy bar was the only North Yorkshire location to feature on the list, and one of only four Yorkshire bars.
The list is compiled and voted on by industry experts, including bar operators, drinks writers, suppliers and drinks specialists.
They are spread geographically across the UK to prevent regional bias.
The list is sponsored by some of alcohol’s biggest brands – Guinness, St Germain and Johnnie Walker, among others.

We are absolutely lost for words. Thank you to everyone that has supported us & flown the Over & Above flag. Last night still hasn’t sunk in, but the sore heads this morning certainly have. Congratulations to all of our pals in the industry for also reaching the top 50! Last night was such an incredible event with so much love & support across our industry.
'Cucamelon' is a melon and cucumber-inspired signature cocktail.
Over and Above opened in March last year, replacing the former Ali Raj restaurant.
When we spoke to co-owner Richard Hamer last year, he said the vision was to bring “late-night table service and cocktails prepared with chef techniques” to Harrogate.
The cocktail bar offers a wide range of drinks, from signature cocktails such as the ‘Sassy Vimto’ and the ‘Harlow Carr Julep’ to house classics like the margarita and dirty martini.
