A Harrogate singer is set to perform at Saint Michael’s Midnight Glow Walk this weekend.

Sarah Collins rose to TV fame following an appearance as the unexpected star of Michael McIntyre's Big Show on a primetime BBC slot in January.

She was nominated by her husband and led to believe she was on a trip to London.

Sarah soon discovered she was actually on stage in front of an audience of 2,000 people at the Theatre Royal on London's Drury Lane.

She then performed 'How Do I Live' at the end of the show and was stunned when American singer LeAnn Rimes, who had a hit with the song, joined her on stage.

Since the show Sarah has had multiple media appearances.

She told the Stray Ferret this week that she is still “being recognised by complete strangers”.

She said:

The support I received after the show was truly mind blowing and I never expected my performance to move so many people and receive such positive feedback and support.

It is a wonderful memory that myself, my family and friends will treasure for the rest of our lives. It was also overwhelming to receive words of support from LeAnn Rimes herself.

The funk and soul singer was already a viral sensation with her own YouTube channel and a nine-piece Motown band.

Her YouTube channel began in 2014 as a form of music therapy, after she was diagnosed with a brain tumour and wasn’t sure if a full recovery was possible.

Saint Michael’s Hospice announced on social media this week that Sarah was set to perform at the event hub this Saturday (September 21).

Sarah said:

I’m really excited about this fabulous event and honoured to be performing a few songs, including the LeAnn Rimes song ‘How Do I Live’ that some people may have already heard me sing on the TV, to get the crowd ready for that 10km walk.

Myself and my daughter will also be participating in the walk as we are big supporters of Saint Michael’s Hospice and all of the fantastic work they do.

Music is so good for the soul, and I hope to keep on performing as long as it continues to move and uplift people.

The Midnight Glow Walk is making its return after a nine-year break and it is expected that 1,000 people will follow the 10km route around Harrogate.

Sarah is set to perform on Saturday September 21 from 8.30pm at Ashville Sports Centre.

Tickets for the event are available here.
