A Harrogate church has issued a statement regarding a homeless camp established on its grounds.
An encampment of tents, blankets and various other items has been set up outside Harrogate Baptist Church, on Victoria Avenue, since the beginning of May.
Two people and a dog have been sleeping on the grass outside the building.
It is unusual for homeless people to establish themselves on church grounds.
The Stray Ferret contacted Harrogate Baptist Church to ask how it was dealing with the situation.
Lead minister, the Reverend Ann Chesworth said:
Harrogate Baptist Church are an all-age, ethnically diverse group of people. At the start of May two people and a dog started camping on our grounds without permission. We immediately sought advice from the authorities and relevant agencies and are seeking further advice to enable them to move into suitable accommodation as soon as possible.
