Plans for a new housing development in Bishop Monkton look set to be revived, with reports that Avant Homes is to submit a revised application for 60 homes.
It is understood that Avant has told Bishop Monkton Action Group of its plans, but has not yet submitted a formal application.
Avant originally hoped to build 88 houses on the site at the junction of Knaresborough Road and Moor Road, but withdrew the application last year.
There have long been fears in Bishop Monkton, which lies three-and-a-half miles south of Ripon, that the village’s sewerage system does not have the capacity to cope with the extra houses, as human waste can be seen on local streets after even “moderate” rain.
But despite these concerns, another scheme, the 23-home Kebbell Church Farm development, was given the go-ahead in May by a planning inspector, and some residents believe that this may have encouraged Avant to resubmit its plans.
Bishop Monkton Parish Council and BMAG are expected to have a meeting with Avant about the new application in the coming weeks.
The Stray Ferret has contacted Avant Homes for comment.
