A Birmingham-based housebuilder is looking to build 190 homes on a greenfield site on the edge of Knaresborough.
Richborough outlined its plans to build on the fields between Bar Lane and Hazelheads Lane, to the east of Scriven, in a leaflet prepared by Leeds-based planning consultancy Johnson Mowat, which it posted to local residents.
The leaflet says Richborough intends to submit an outline planning application to build on the 4.79 hectare site, along with associated landscaping and infrastructure works.
But it adds that the detail of layout, scale and appearance of the houses – 40% of which will be affordable “in line with local planning policy” – will be for consideration at a later date.
The site proposed for development by Richborough is outlined in red.
It describes the proposed development as “landscape-led”, with new habitats and landscaping throughout, “areas of natural, semi-natural and amenity greenspace”, a community orchard and playpark.
It also promises cycle and pedestrian links to the wider area for the site, which is currently bounded by two single-lane roads lined with high hedges.
In the leaflet, Johnson Mowat invites residents to submit comments on the scheme either via its website, or by emailing them to consultation@johnsonmowat.co.uk, by June 3.
It adds:
Following this consultation, the development team will review and consider all comments received prior to the submission of a formal application to North Yorkshire Council.
