Black Sheep Brewery will host a cycling event across Nidderdale tomorrow (August 16).
The Black Sheep Brewery Sportive is a 63-mile road cycling race through the Yorkshire Dales.
Starting at the brewery in Masham, the route will take cyclists through places including Pateley Bridge, Hampsthwaite, Grantley and Kirkby Malzeard. This is the first time the brewery is hosting the event.
It is available to complete in two distances known as half pint and full pint. The half pint route is 39 miles, with an elevation gain of 1,036 metres. The full pint route is 63 miles, with an elevation gain of 1,669 metres.
The route will take cyclists up the notoriously steep Trapping Hill, a 1.5-mile stretch of road with an average gradient of 9% and a maximum of 20%.

The Stray Ferret today spoke to Toby Fellow, founder of Let's Go Velo and organiser of the event, who said that a few hundred people have entered. Let’s Go Velo collaborates with breweries across the country to put on cycling events.
He said:
I’m a fan of beer and I’m a fan of cycling, so that inspired me to start organising these events. I am a big fan of Black Sheep Brewery and their beers, so I wanted to collaborate with them to host an event.
We want to promote social cycling. The event will help boost the hospitality industry – I know of people coming from across the country to take part.
The event will start at 9am tomorrow.
All competitors will be rewarded with a free pint of beer at the finish line.
Mr Fellow said disruption to traffic will be minimal.
