Insurance firm appears to close Harrogate office
The Harrogate branch of a nationwide insurance firm appears to have closed.
Essex-based Clegg Gifford opened an office on Princes Street in July 2023.
The firm provides both commercial and personal insurance services, and the Harrogate office employed four people at the time of its opening.
However, the office appears to have shut and is now completely empty. The Stray Ferret went to the site earlier this week and, by looking through the window, we saw all the furniture had been removed (see below).
A hand-written note had been left on the door advising customers to call the head office.
In addition, the Harrogate branch is no longer listed as one of Clegg Gifford’s locations on its website.

The Stray Ferret has contacted Clegg Gifford about the apparent closure, including to ask how local customers and staff will be affected, several times. We have not received a response to any of our enquiries.
The company told the Stray Ferret at the time of its opening it had refurbished the entire office ahead of the launch.
No further information has been released at this stage.
