Is a new Greggs store coming to Starbeck?

A new Greggs looks set to open at a Starbeck petrol station.

The Morrisons filling station at Plumpton Park, which is owned by Motor Fuel Group, has teased the opening of a store on social media.

It would bring the number of Greggs outlets in the Harrogate district to six. There are currently two in Harrogate, one in Knaresborough, one in Ripon and one in Boroughbridge.

The company, which is based in St Albans, hosts Greggs outlets at 150 of its forecourts — the most recent store opened in Milton Keynes in February.

While the firm has yet to officially confirm a new store in Starbeck, such a move would align with investments made at its other forecourts and add to Starbeck's rich takeaway offering.

Motor Fuel Group was granted permission by North Yorkshire Council to extend the sales building at the Plumpton Park petrol station in September last year.

The plan gave the go-ahead for a one-storey extension to be constructed, plus new jet washes and pumps to be installed at the site.

It comes as the company acquired 337 Morrisons petrol forecourts, which included Starbeck, in April 2024 and announced a £40 million investment plan for the sites.

An addition of a new Greggs store at Plumpton Park would come as the firm looks to improve its “food to go” offering at its Morrisons petrol stations, which was included in its investment plan.

The Stray Ferret approached Motor Fuel Group to ask when it plans to open a new Greggs store at the Starbeck site, but had not received a response by the time of publication.
