An array of politicians, journalists, broadcasters and more will arrive in Harrogate this autumn as a local literature festival is set to return.

Raworths Harrogate Literature Festival, put on by Harrogate International Festivals and sponsored by legal firm Raworths Solicitors, will span over a 10-day period this October.

This year’s speakers include former Scotland First Minister, Nicola Sturgeon, whose new memoir ‘Frankly’ will be published this month.

Conservative MP and former Chancellor, Jeremy Hunt, will also speak at the event.

TV personality Chris Tarrant, who was once the host of ITV’s 'Who Wants to Be a Millionaire', and presenter John Suchet are also part of the line-up.

People can also expect appearances from actress and author, Helen Lederer, and ex-England cricketer, Graham Gooch.

Rachel Tunnicliffe, senior partner at Raworths Solicitors, said today:

This is our thirteenth year sponsoring the Raworths Harrogate Literature Festival and once again it has brought together a fabulous line-up of exceptional authors and special guests.

This festival is a celebration of brilliant books and inspiring people with a story to tell, and we are proud to play our part in bringing this prestigious event to Harrogate.

Economist Sir Partha Dasgupta will make an appearance at the festival, which will be held at The Crown Hotel in Harrogate, as well as the creators of the Victoriocity podcast, Chris and Jen Sudgen.

Harrogate International Festival’s chief executive, Sharon Canavar, added:

This year’s Raworths Harrogate Literature Festival includes a wonderful mix of politicians, TV broadcasters, journalists and sport stars, with more exciting programme announcements coming soon.

We are incredibly grateful to our sponsors, Raworths Solicitors, for their continued support. Without them we wouldn’t be able to bring world class events like this to Harrogate.

Raworths Harrogate Literature Festival will return to the town from October 9 to 19.

Tickets go on sale Wednesday, August 27, and will be available from the Harrogate International Festivals website.
