A Killinghall man appeared in court on charges of animal cruelty this week.
Laurance Silver, of Thomas Drive, appeared at York Magistrates Court on Monday (December 16).
A court document says Mr Silver is accused of causing unnecessary suffering to a crossbreed dog named Esther by failing to provide it with adequate nutrition.
The document also claims the 48-year-old failed to provide veterinary treatment to the dog's back left leg when it was injured.
The offences are alleged to have happened between June 17 and July 17, 2024.
The case has been brought against Mr Silver by the RSPCA.
Mr Silver will next appear at York Magistrates Court on January 14.
