Independent retailer The Yorkshire Beeswax Candle Company is to permanently close its Knaresborough shop tomorrow (February 20).
The environmentally friendly business in Green Dragon Yard uses natural beeswax to make candles.
But owner Michael Landreth announced on social media that tomorrow will be its final day in Knaresborough.
Mr Landreth said he reached the decision with “deep sadness, but also with immense appreciation” for the support shown by customers over the years.
He said he was told in December that the building in which the company operates was being listed for sale.
He added:
This led us to secure a new premises in Hebden Bridge. Our original intention was to continue operating both shops; however, due to ongoing uncertainty surrounding the Knaresborough premises and landlord, along with additional factors supporting this decision, we have made the difficult choice to close our Knaresborough location permanently.
Customers expressed sadness and disappointment at the loss of the independent business.

Very sad news and not good for Knaresborough. You were a great addition to our lovely independents. Hope the Hebden Bridge shop thrives.
Mr Landreth said closure was "not a complete goodbye to Knaresborough or North Yorkshire". He added:
We remain committed to serving the North Yorkshire area and will be working incredibly hard to ensure we continue to be accessible to you.
