The owners of one of the district’s most distinctive craft breweries have put the business up for sale.
Aron McMahon and Cameron Brown launched Turning Point Brew Co in Kirkbymoorside in 2017, and moved it to Knaresborough two years later.
But on social media this week they have announced that they’re selling up “after nine joyous and successful years”.
On Facebook and Instagram they wrote:
The reasons for sale are personal to the directors, and they feel the time is right for someone with equal passion and drive to take the reins and move this wonderful, thriving brewery and brand forward for many years to come.
Turning Point Brew Co has produced more than 160 different beers, some of them bearing names that reflect the space travel theme that distinguishes the brand, such as Astral Voyage, Cosmic Slop, and Vogon Poetry – a reference to Douglas Adams’ Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy.
Its best seller is Disco King, a 5.1% ABV American pale ale that has listings with both Asda and the Co-op.

The brewery at Grimbald Park, Knaresborough.
The brewery, which is housed in a long, tunnel-shaped building on the Grimbald Park industrial estate, will operate and trade as normal until a buyer is found. In the meantime, all planned projects – such as taproom openings on the last Friday and Saturday of the month – will continue as usual.
The sale includes The Falcon pub on Micklegate in York.
