Police have warned that a main road in Knaresborough could be closed for most of the day following a single vehicle collision.
The A6055 between Boroughbridge Road and Bond End closed this morning when a car crashed into a wall.
The incident led to lengthy delays as the vehicle was badly damaged and debris was strewn across the road.
A police cordon was erected and an officer at the scene told the Stray Ferret the road could be closed for most of the day, but did not give any further information.
In a social media update just after 9am this morning, North Yorkshire Police said:
"Diversions are being put in place and we request that motorists please avoid travelling on this route."
