Knaresborough Cricket Club will be looking to make amends for their 2022 Addison Cup final defeat when they compete for the trophy again tonight (July 7).
The Aspin Lane side will face Whixley at Knaresborough Forest’s Calcutt ground. Play will start at 6.15pm.
The Calcutt pitch is behind the now-burnt-out Cricketers pub.
The Addison Cup is one of the oldest cricket competitions in the world, having been established in 1922.
The top 16 teams in the Harrogate and District Amateur Evening Cricket League compete for the trophy.
Knaresborough will go into the match as favourites, having finished 12 points ahead of Whixley.
Knaresborough’s Johnny Tattersall has not played in the evening league and therefore does not qualify to play in the match.
Harrogate won last year’s final, beating minnows Scotton with three overs to spare.
But last year’s winners were dumped out of the competition in round one this year by Goldsborough.
Knaresborough beat Bilton in the semi-final.
Entry will be free. The bar will be open and serving food on the night.
