Knaresborough’s golfing sensation, John Parry, will begin his PGA Tour dream tomorrow (January 15).
The 39-year-old’s American season will start with the Sony Open in Hawaii.
Hosted at the Waialae Country Club in Honolulu, 120 golfers will compete for a share of the $9.1 million prize.
Should he win the tournament, Parry would take home a whopping $1.64 million – almost equalling his last season’s total earnings.
Though flat and lacking water hazards, the par-70 course is deceptively tricky.
Located on the coast with narrow fairways and small greens, the course favours precision over power. An excellent short game is needed to succeed here.
Parry qualified for golf’s biggest tour after finishing 11th on the DP World Tour – or the European Tour, golf’s second biggest – last season.
Throughout last season, his consistently impressive performances also won him almost £1.5 million in prize money.
He is currently ranked 82nd in the world.
The Sony Open will begin at 7.10am (Hawaii Standard Time) on Thursday, January 15, and will end on Sunday, January 18.
