Knaresborough golfer John Parry has won almost £84,000 during his first tournament of this season's PGA Tour.
Competing in the Sony Open in Hawaii, Parry finished tied for 19th place, securing him a portion of the $9.1 million prize.
But things could have been even better for the golfer, who entered the final round in fifth place.
Going into the last 18 at nine under par, Parry’s final round of one over par dropped him 14 places, showing the level of intense competition on the American tour.
Parry, 39, has seen a drastic upturn in fortunes over the past few years and, after a fantastic 11th-place finish on the European Tour last season, qualified to play on golf’s biggest stage.
His tournament in Hawaii is just the start of a busy schedule for the golfer.
On Thursday (January 22), he will compete in The American Express at California’s Pete Dye Stadium Course.
Competing against some of golf’s biggest names such as Scottie Scheffler, Justin Rose, Matt Fitzpatrick and Robert MacIntyre, Parry will again be looking to take home the biggest share of the $9.6 million prize.
The American Express will begin on Thursday and last until Sunday (January 25).
