A Knaresborough pub has made the shortlist at this year’s Great British Pub Awards 2025.
Blind Jack’s, a family-owned independent pub on Market Place, is one of six contenders for the best beer pub category.
The pub, named after the blind 18th-century Knaresborough road builder Jack Metcalf, has been a free house since 1991.
It will be up against pubs in Leeds, Huddersfield, Clitheroe, Tamworth and London at the final, which will be held at the First Direct Arena in Leeds on September 24.
Christian Ogley, director at Blind Jack's, said the pub was a “proper family business” in the heart of Knaresborough.
He added:
There’s roughly 46,000 pubs in the UK right now and to be shortlisted down to a group of six is absolutely mind-blowing.
This recognition is a testament to our dedication to quality ales and specialty beer offering, a welcoming atmosphere, and the support of our fantastic community.
The annual awards, organised by William Reed Events, celebrate excellence and boost the profile of pubs.
