We will focus on the first team results of local amateur and semi-professional sports clubs.
Here's what happened during the week of September 22 to 28.
Harris Eggleston scored his sixth goal of the season for Harrogate Railway on Saturday (September 27).
Harrogate Railway
The Rail continued their push for promotion with a 2-0 win at home against South Leeds. Goals from Harris Eggleston and Sam Clothier in first-half injury time secured all three points for Rob Youhill’s men. Danny Mutch was named Harrogate’s player of the match for an intense midfield performance. Another clean sheet takes Railway’s total to eight this year, the best in the league. Harrogate are currently second in Division One of the NCEL, with 29 points from 12 games. They have a game in hand over leaders Dearne and District, who have 30 points.
Knaresborough Town
Knaresborough played two away matches last week, drawing 1-1 with second-placed Barton Town, and 3-3 at 10th-placed Pickering Town. Danny Edwards put Knaresborough ahead in Barton-upon-Humber, before a last-minute equaliser from Thomas McDonald saw the points shared.
Goals from Ben Gelder, Slater Barkham-Barnes and James Hampson put Knaresborough ahead against Pickering, before goals from Souleymane Coulibaly, Joe Wood, and an 86th-minute equaliser from Connor Avison rescued a point for the home side. Knaresborough currently sit in seventh in the Premier Division of the NCEL, with 18 points from 12 games.
Ripon City
Ripon took another three points home after a 3-2 win away at Altofts. Two goals from Zack Gallimore and a third from Joe Payette saw City rise to third in the Premier Division of the West Yorkshire Association Football League (WYAFL). Ripon currently have 21 points after eight games, and are three points behind second-placed Beeston St Anthony, with a game in hand.
Boroughbridge AFC
Boroughbridge were unable to overturn a 2-0 deficit, losing 2-1 against Silsden Whitestar on Saturday (September 27). Harry Burland bagged the Bridge’s only goal. Lewis Pye was named Boroughbridge’s player of the match. The Bridge are now ninth in Division One of the WYAFL, with eight points from seven games. They have two games in hand on several teams in the league.

Harlow Hill’s fixture against Knaresborough Celtic this weekend was postponed.

Harrogate Town
Town put in a strong performance to overturn a 2-0 deficit against Sunderland West End, winning 5-2. Two goals from Holly Smith, one from Chloe Marshall, one from Rhian Edmondson and a stunning free kick from Hannah Shuttleworth means Harrogate are now fifth in the Premier Division of the North East Regional Women's Football League. The Sulphurites have six points from their first four games, and are level on points with Ossett United and Alnwick Town Juniors.
Knaresborough Town
Knaresborough Town staged a dramatic 3-2 victory away at league leaders Thackley, to put the two sides level on points. Two goals from Cass Lane and one from Lorna Wilkinson secured all three points for the Boro. Lane was named Knaresborough’s player of the match. After last season’s promotion, Knaresborough are second in the Premier Division of the West Riding County Women's League (WRCWL), having won all three of their fixtures. They have a game in hand over leaders Thackley, with both teams on nine points.
Harrogate Railway
The Rail came up short again this weekend, losing 5-4 against third-placed Leeds Medics and Dentists. Harrogate’s goals came from Elisa Hodson, Imogen Willetts, and Georgia France, who was also sent off. Railway’s poor start to the season sees them sitting one place above the bottom of the WRCWL Premier Division, with one point from their first three games. They have a game in hand over bottom-placed Skipton.
Boroughbridge
Boroughbridge are also struggling for form after their promotion into the WRCWL Division One last season, losing 4-2 to Horsforth St Margarets on Sunday (September 28). After three games, they sit in last place, with zero points and a goal difference of minus six. They have a game in hand over ninth-placed Field, who have two points.

Ripon Rugby Club
Ripon progressed into the next round of the Yorkshire Shield after a 39-12 away victory over Ossett. Two tries from Thomas Graham and Elliot Davies-Taylor and one from William Barrett helped Ripon over the line. Morgan Clark made four conversions and converted two penalties.
Knaresborough Rugby Club
Knaresborough recorded a convincing 59-26 victory away at Richmondshire in the Counties 4 Yorkshire North Division on Saturday (September 27). Jed Gowland’s are currently fourth after three games, having picked up six points.
Harrogate Pythons
Harrogate Pythons also progressed into the next round of the Yorkshire Shield, beating Baildon 48-30 away from home. Tries came from Harry Bradshaw, Connor Spence, Jack Whiting, and Harry Butler, who scored five.

Harrogate RUFC did not play last weekend.

Harrogate Hockey Club
Harrogate won 4-0 against Lindum’s second team to go top of the Premier Division of the Yorkshire and North East Open League. A Charles Edmondson hat-trick and one from Ben Holton sees Harrogate level on points with Sheffield University Bankers, both of whom have seven after three games.

Harrogate Hockey Club
Harrogate registered their first win of the season with a 2-1 win over Ben Rhydding’s second team on Saturday (September 27). Brooke Allen and Evelyn Wright both converted penalty corners, while Lucy Hartley scored for Ben Rhydding. This win takes Harrogate up to ninth in the Premier Division of the Yorkshire and North East Women’s League, with three points from three games. They are level on points with Ben Rhydding, Leeds, and Lindum.
Ripon Rockets
Ripon Rockets beat Sirens 61-34 on Monday (September 22) and are first in Division One of the NYNAL Senior Winter League after one game, with five points and a goal difference of 27.
Harrogate Phoenix
Harrogate Phoenix did not get off to winning ways on Monday (September 22), narrowly losing 41-35 against the Bullets. They are eighth of 10 in the NYNAL Division One, with one point and a goal difference of minus six.
Claro Netball
Claro Netball also got off to a good start, beating Diamonds 55-37 on Tuesday (September 23). They sit in second place in the NYNAL Division One, with five points and a goal difference of 18.
