Leeds Bradford Airport runway closed due to ‘emergency repairs’

We have amended our coverage following an update from Leeds Bradford Airport.

The runway at Leeds Bradford Airport is currently closed due to “emergency repairs”.

The airport issued a statement on social media shortly after 3pm this afternoon to announce the news.

In an update at 5pm, operators said check-in had re-opened and they expect the runway to open at 7pm.

Airport officials also said:

Some flights are cancelled, delayed or diverted. Our website and airport information screens have the most up-to-date information.

Travellers are advised to contact airlines for further information. 

A spokesperson for the airport told ITV News:

We apologise for any disruption and ask that passengers contact their airline for further travel advice. Please also see our website and social media for updates.

This has not occurred due to an incident – it is a minor repair to the runway surface but needs to be carried out immediately.
