A theme park near Ripon could be set for new owners.

The leasehold of Lightwater Valley Family Adventure Park in North Stainley was advertised for £3 million.

According to the Rightmove listing, the 182-acre site is now 'under offer'.

The business, which is being marketed by commercial property agents Newmark, attracts more than 230,000 visitors each year and generates around £5 million in revenue, the listing says.

Its 99-year leasehold started in February 1998 and expires in January 2097.

The sale is described as "an opportunity to take ownership of and develop a long-established theme park business", which includes planning permission for a “significant lodge and glamping scheme”.

Current owner Brighton Pier Group PLC, which also owns Brighton Pier Palace and several indoor mini golf sites and bars nationwide, took ownership of Lightwater Valley Family Adventure Park in 2021.

The site has recently focused more on attracting younger children.

The listing says:

Established in 1969, the park has been sympathetically developed and managed, latterly under the ownership of Brighton Pier Group PLC, as a major attractor in the region and is now available for sale through a company share sale.

Lightwater Valley offers a full day out for the family, with the park presenting an array of themed areas and attractions throughout an expansive parkland setting, at the heart of which is a large lake surrounded by mature woodland.

A sales brochure invited offers "via 100% of the shares in Lightwater Valley Attractions Ltd", which is a subsidiary of The Brighton Pier Group PLC.

It also says: "Vacant possession will be given. In addition to the purchase price, all consumable stock is to be purchased at valuation upon completion."

Lightwater Valley Family Adventure Park, which began as a fruit farm founded by Robert Staveley, features a range of attractions, including a ladybird rollercoaster, a merry-go-round, a boating area, adventure golf and an outdoor play area.

There are also food and drink offerings and a gift shop.

The theme park, formerly known simply as Lightwater Valley, was once home to the ultimate, the longest rollercoaster in Europe.

It spanned 7,442 ft but was dismantled in 2023 after being out of use for several years.
