We are delighted that our 2024 GCSE pupils have produced an excellent set of results despite the challenges that covid inflicted for this year group when they started their secondary school career.
With grading now being set at pre-Covid levels (2019 results) the percentage of subjects awarded at grades 9 - 5 all but matched that of 2019. Physics, widely perceived as one of the more demanding GCSE subjects, saw nearly 50% of our entrants gain the top grades of 9 or 8.
Many congratulations are offered to our Year 11 pupils who have gained results that will see them well-placed for making applications to high-ranking universities in a year’s time.

Despite the disruption in the early years of their secondary education, they embraced learning at HGS and seized every opportunity – including early morning revision sessions and even Saturday school.
Behind each grade is the unique story of each student – a story of resilience and perseverance. The remarkable individual achievements today deserve much recognition, and we applaud this success. We sincerely thank students for all their efforts.
We fully appreciate the support that parents have provided during their children’s time with us – it is this partnership between home and school which continues to be the foundation for our success at HGS. We would also like to thank our teachers and staff who have worked so brilliantly to support students.
We wish students all the very best in the exciting next stage of their education.
