Liverpool Football Club will play their first ever match at Wetherby Road in Harrogate this evening (September 24).
The Reds' under-21s will take on Town's first team at the Exercise Stadium for the first match in the Bristol Street Motors Trophy this season.
The under-21s team is an integral part of Liverpool FC's academy, which has developed talent including Steven Gerrard and Michael Owen.
Jarell Quansah, who was man of the match in England under-21's game against Northern Ireland this month, is a current standout talent in Liverpool's academy. He captained the under-18s to the FA Youth Cup final in 2021.
Tonight's milestone match coincides with the 40th anniversary of the official Liverpool FC Supporters Club for Harrogate and District.
The supporters club was formed in 1985 and has run coaches to Anfield on a regular basis ever since, along with attending finals at home and abroad.
David Houlgate is one of the founding members of OLFCSC Harrogate. He is no longer on the committee but is still a member of the branch.
He said:
There are a lot of Liverpool supporters in Harrogate and our aim was to arrange cheap, convenient travel to matches.
Forty years is a long time. I have seen the club ebb and flow like the fortune of the team, and we have had a good spell in recent years.
Liverpool FC are England's most successful football club and our members are looking forward to welcoming the Reds to Harrogate for this historic game.

A spokesperson for Harrogate Town AFC said:
Liverpool are undoubtedly one of the biggest clubs in the world and have an U21 team that has been a pathway for some of the leading names in football.
We'd like to welcome all supporters who are attending this evening for the first time and hope we can give them reason to keep coming back to get behind their local team.
In an update on social media, Town said that they are expecting their highest Bristol Street Motors Trophy attendance.
Town will remain without George Thomson and Matty Daly for tomorrow’s match as they continue to recover from ankle and hamstring injuries respectively.
The final tickets are on sale in-store from 12-4.30pm or online up until kick-off. Season tickets are not valid for this evening and as usual there are no sales on the gate.
The game will be available to watch on Sky Sports+. Tickets and more information are available here.
Kick-off is at 7.45pm.
