Lone walker rescued after fall at Angram Reservoir

Paramedics and fell rescuers came to the aid of a person who slipped and fell on steep banking at Angram Reservoir on Saturday (September 5).
Upper Wharfedale Fell Rescue Association assigned 10 volunteers to help at 10.30am.
They liaised with Yorkshire Ambulance Service at the head of the reservoir, at Lofthouse, and were able to get within a mile of the casualty before having to proceed on foot.
The person is helped at Angram.
The association said in a statement today (September 7):
The team and Yorkshire Ambulance Service crew reached the casualty at 11.45am. Our remote rescue medical technicians worked alongside Yorkshire Ambulance Service to assess and treat the c casualty, who was conscious but in pain.
Pain relief and a leg splint were provided before the casualty was placed onto the stretcher. The narrowness of the footbridge meant the evacuation involved crossing a stream and ascending a steep bank, where the stretcher wheel was attached to assist with the mile long transport back to the waiting ambulance.
Once at the roadside, the Yorkshire Ambulance Service crew completed packaging and transferred the casualty to the hospital. We would like to thank YAS for their excellent teamwork and wish the casualty a speedy recovery.
Angram Reservoir is one of three reservoirs fed by the River Nidd in Upper Nidderdale. The others are Scar House Reservoir and Gouthwaite Reservoir.
