Major Danish homeware retailer to create several new jobs at Harrogate store
The Harrogate branch of a major Danish homeware company will create a number of new jobs.
The Stray Ferret last month revealed Søstrene Grene, which was founded in 1973, is set to take over the former Cosy Club site on Cambridge Street.
The local store will be one of more than 300 UK shops owned by the brand, and will offer a range of homeware products, furniture, stationery and arts and crafts equipment.
The Stray Ferret asked Søstrene Grene for an update on the new store, including when it will open and how many jobs are to be created locally.
A spokesperson said an opening date is still yet to be confirmed, but 16 people will be hired to work at the store.
We also asked why Harrogate was chosen as a location.
Jonathan Cooper, a joint venture partner for the UK, told the Stray Ferret:
Harrogate is an iconic town in the heart of Yorkshire, rich in history, with the ideal demographics for a craft-focused brand like Søstrene Grene. It felt like a natural step for the brand.
The local opening comes as part of the company’s plans to open 100 new stores by 2030 and will the fifth store of its kind in Yorkshire.
