Multiple fire crews have been attending a blaze at a pub near Knaresborough that broke out in the early hours of this morning.

Firefighters from Knaresborough, Harrogate, Acomb, Tadcaster, Ripon, Wetherby were called to The Cricketers on Thistle Hill in Calcutt at 4.02am.

The building was well alight but little information has been released so far.

North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service’s overnight incident report, published at about 7am this morning, said:

Crews are currently still in attendance, but the incident has been scaled down to three appliances.

Knaresborough Town Council posted on social media:

There has been a large-scale fire at The Cricketers pub in Calcutt in the early hours of this morning. Our thoughts are with all those affected, and the emergency services who have been responding to the fire.

It urged anyone affected by the fire to contact Councillor James Pickard by emailing james.pickard@knaresboroughtowncouncil.gov.uk

We will provide more information when it is available.
