A large Ripon retailer that has traded in the city for 40 years will soon be closing its doors.
The Original Factory Shop opened in 1985 in a large unit fronting onto Fishergate, but the a 'To Let' sign has been put on the premises and the landlord is seeking a new occupier.
Ripon is one of a number of Original Factory Shop outlets across the UK facing the axe after the portfolio of shops was aquired by private equity firm Modella Capital in February this year.

The company is implementing a company voluntary arrangement to reduce costs — a move that involves closing some "loss-making" stores and renegotiating rents at others. This process has led to store closures and closing-down sales at many locations.
In the meantime, agents HRH Retail are marketing the property as 'available' to prospective occupiers.
The building has ground floor sales space of 6,533 sq ft with an additional 2,268 sq ft on the first floor.
The Stray Ferret has asked how many staff are affected by the upcoming closure, but no response had been received by the time of publication.
