A 62-year-old man is facing a long spell behind bars after he admitted raping a woman at a property in Harrogate.
Clifford Church, of no fixed address, appeared at York Crown Court via video link yesterday (October 27) when he pleaded guilty to rape.
The incident occurred at a property in the town in August and prompted a police manhunt.
Following a media appeal issued by North Yorkshire Police, working in conjunction with West Yorkshire Police, Church was found in Bradford on September 19.
He was brought back to North Yorkshire where he was charged with rape and was remanded in custody.
Prosecutor Catherine Silverton said that Church, who also has connections to York, had previous convictions for rape in 1997 and 2005.
Judge Sean Morris adjourned sentence to January 30 next year.
Church was also remanded in custody after the hearing.
