Man, 80, accused of causing death by careless driving near Boroughbridge
An 80-year-old man has been accused of causing death by careless or inconsiderate driving near Boroughbridge.
William Beckett, of Back Lane in Vernham Dean, Hampshire, appeared at Harrogate Magistrates Court on Thursday (February 12) charged with the offence.
Mr Beckett is alleged to have caused the death of Nicholas Gilroy by driving without due care and attention on May 20, 2023.
Mr Gilroy died on July 29 that year.
The alleged offence occurred on the B6265 at the junction with Front Street in Aldborough.
Mr Beckett gave no indication of plea and elected his case be heard at a crown court.
The case was transferred to York Crown Court, where Mr Beckett is due to appear on March 16.
