Man arrested after police seal off area in Harrogate
A man has been arrested after emergency services were called to Harrogate town centre last night (August 25).
Police, firefighters and paramedics were summoned to Cambridge Crescent at about 9pm.
Crime scene tape was put up while the incident was dealt with.
Several windows of the former Royal Bank of Scotland building, which is being converted into the new Harrogate headquarters of Newtons Solicitors, have been smashed.
A North Yorkshire Police spokesperson said:
The incident initially related to a concern for safety involving a man who climbed scaffolding. During the incident, he damaged several windows. Police negotiators and ambulance professionals were deployed to assist in safely resolving the situation. The man was later arrested on suspicion of criminal damage and is being provided with the appropriate mental health support.
