Man arrested as stolen car recovered in Bilton
A stolen car has been recovered, and a suspected burglar has been arrested after being spotted by a police patrol in Harrogate.
According to a North Yorkshire Police statement today (February 25), officers on duty in the King Edward’s Drive area noticed suspicious activity around a Mini Cooper at around 4.25pm yesterday.
As police approached, the car was driven off. When police then activated their blue lights, the car pulled over.
The driver failed a roadside breath test and was arrested.
Enquiries were made with the car’s registered keeper, who confirmed that the car was missing from outside her home, and was taken within the previous two hours.
A 37-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of burglary, drink driving and driving without a licence or insurance.
Police said the man remains in custody at this time, while enquiries continue.
