A 22-year-old man has been released on bail after a spate of violence in Harrogate in the early hours of Saturday (July 19) morning.
The Stray Ferret reported on Saturday that a section of Parliament Street had been cordoned off by police and crime scene investigators were at the scene.
North Yorkshire Police said in a statement today “a series of violent incidents happened over a short period time between 2.50am and 3am in the Parliament Street / The Ginnel / Parliament Terrace area”.
The statement added:
Police were alerted by CCTV operators to an incident in the The Ginnel at around 2.50am when a man was assaulted.
In a second incident a man was found with a serious hand injury, however it is not known how or where this incident took place, but it is believed to have happened in the Parliament Street area.
We are appealing to the first victim who was assaulted in The Ginnel to come forward, along with anyone else who was in the area at the time and witnessed either of the incidents or the moments leading up to them to contact us.
Police at the scene at about 10am this morning.
