A man has been charged with two further offences after a fatal hit-and-run collision in Pateley Bridge.
Bailey Chadwick, 19, died after he was struck by a vehicle on the B6265 at Lupton Bank, between Pateley and Glasshouses, in the early hours of July 20 last year.
North Yorkshire Police last month said a man, 25, had been charged with drink-driving and driving without insurance, but in an update today (January 19) the force said the same man has now also been charged with failing to stop after a road traffic collision and failing to report a road traffic collision.
He remains under investigation for the offence of causing death by dangerous driving.
The man is due to appear in court on February 12.
Today’s statement added:
Due to sensitive nature of this investigation, we have removed the ability for the public to comment on NYP’s [North Yorkshire Police] post. We ask that people avoid speculating on public forums or social media to avoid prejudicing court proceedings.
Officers continue to appeal for any information about the fatal collision which sadly claimed the life of 19-year-old Bailey Chadwick. The incident happened in the early hours of Sunday 20 July 2025 on the B6265 at Lupton Bank between Glasshouses and Pateley Bridge.
