A man has denied attempted murder following a knife attack near Ripon last month.
Gary John Holdsworth, 51, today (January 6) appeared at Leeds Crown Court, where he denied attempted murder and possession of a bladed article in a public place.
Mr Holdsworth is alleged to have committed the offences at The George and Dragon Inn in Melmerby on December 4 last year.
The case was adjourned for trial, which is due to start on July 27 and is expected to last three or four days.
Mr Holdsworth, of The Paddock in Melmerby, was released on conditional bail.

North Yorkshire Police previously said paramedics called for officers’ help at around 11.39pm on December 4 after a man in his 40s suffered a "serious knife wound" to his neck.
He was taken for hospital for treatment but was later discharged.
Two men – one in his 40s and one in his 50s – were arrested at the time.
The man in his 40s was released on conditional bail, police told the Stray Ferret last month.
