A man has been charged with making threats at Harrogate District Hospital.
Steven Bainbridge, of no fixed abode, appeared at York Magistrates Court on Saturday (September 6), when he denied four offences: two counts of theft from a shop, one count of threatening to damage or destroy property and one count of using threatening or abusive words or behaviour likely to cause alarm or distress.
According to court documents, Mr Bainbridge allegedly stole £12 worth of canned drinks from The Stonebow’s Co-op in York on August 28.
He is accused of stealing a case of wine valued at £15 from Sainsbury’s in Ripon on September 4.
On the same day, the 36-year-old defendant is alleged to have used threatening or abusive words or disorderly behaviour at Harrogate District Hospital.
His alleged conduct was within the hearing or sight of a person likely to have been caused harassment, alarm or distress by it, court documents add.
Mr Bainbridge also allegedly threatened to damage hospital property inside the building, intending staff to “fear the threat would be carried out”.
A trial date was set for October 29 at York Magistrates Court.
