A man is facing an animal cruelty charge after an alleged incident on the Harrogate train line last year.
Chris Williams, of Rigton Hill in North Rigton, has been charged with one count of causing unnecessary suffering contrary to the Animal Welfare Act 2006.
British Transport Police today told the Stray Ferret the charge follows an incident at Weeton Station on July 14, 2024.
The force launched an investigation at the time and later confirmed the dog involved in the alleged incident had died.
Network Rail, the public body that owns the rail network, also said it was carrying out its own investigation into an “animal-related incident on the Harrogate line” at the time.
Mr Williams, 38, will appear at Leeds Magistrates Court on March 17.
