The Stray Ferret spent the day at Harrogate Magistrates Court on Thursday (March 5c).
We sat through a full day of hearings, which included cases of drink-driving and criminal damage.
You can read reports on the cases below.
A man has been handed a lengthy driving ban after drink-driving in Ripon.
Ricky Roberts, 43, appeared at Harrogate Magistrates Court on Thursday where he admitted one count of drink-driving.
Sarah Tyrer, prosecuting, told the court that Roberts, who gave the court an address in Telford, was spoken to by police while pulled over on Littlethorpe Lane in the city on February 4 this year.
Officers said he was “slurring his words” and “appeared confused” while in his car, the court heard.
Police asked Roberts to take a breathalyser test, where he registered 86 micrograms of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath — the legal limit is 35mg.
Ms Tyrer said the 43-year-old had a previous conviction for drink-driving in the last 10 years.
Roberts, who represented himself in court, said he had a problem with his car and that he thought he was “alright” after a few pints.
Magistrates banned the 43-year-old from driving for 46 months.
He was also fined £553 and ordered to pay £85 court costs and a £221 victims’ surcharge.
A man has been fined after damaging a window at Harrogate Homeless Project.
Jamie Garrett, of Harewood Road, appeared at Harrogate Magistrates Court where he admitted one count of criminal damage to a property.
Sarah Tyrer, prosecuting, said Garrett, 30, was caught on CCTV throwing a traffic cone at the Springboard Day Centre, which is run by the charity, on February 11 this year.
Ms Tyrer said the damage to the window of the door at the property was valued at £350.
Garrett, who represented himself in court, said he was frustrated with the charity after staying there, but had since found work.
Magistrates handed the 30-year-old a six-month conditional discharge and a £350 fine.
