The Mayor of York and North Yorkshire has published a list of gifts and hospitality he has received for the first time.
According to the register, David Skaith, Labour mayor for the region, was offered 18 gifts from organisations and private individuals between April and September this year.
York and North Yorkshire Combined Authority has published the list in the interests of transparency.
It includes whether or not the gift or hospitality was accepted or declined and, if it was accepted, the reasons why.
Among the gifts accepted were a ticket to the UKREiiF Real Estate Investment and Infrastructure Forum in Leeds on May 20 and May 22 and two tickets to the The Big Curry Lunch from the Army Benevolent Fund on June 12. Both were accepted on the basis of “building connections” at both events respectively.
Mr Skaith also accepted two tickets, including hospitality and parking, to York City FC Vs Barnsley FC in a friendly match on July 22.

The tickets were offered by Barnsley Football Club and the mayor accepted them to “connections within York’s football community”.
Mr Skaith was also offered two tickets to the USA Vs Samoa Women’s Rugby World Cup match at the LNER Community Stadium on September 6 by World Rugby, which he accepted on the basis that it would “build connections and celebrate women’s sport in York and North Yorkshire”
The Labour mayor also accepted a crate of Old Peculiar beer from Theakston’s Brewery, which was taken to “not cause offence” and was “gifted to a family member”.
Other gifts and hospitality which Mr Skaith accepted include:
Mr Skaith declined gifts and hospitality on five occasions between April and September.
Among these include two weekend guest tickets to Leeds Festival 2025 from Festival Republic.
Mr Skaith also turned down two tickets to the welcome ceremony for the Women’s Rugby World Cup on August 17 from City of York Council.
The Labour mayor declined one ticket to York City Vs Oldham Athletic on May 20 from York College.
He also turned down a ticket to England Vs India cricket match at Headingley Stadium on June 22 from a private individual. Mr Skaith said the ticket was offered in a “personal capacity” and was declared for the purposes of transparency.
Meanwhile, Mr Skaith also declined two tickets which included hospitality to the Women’s Rugby World Cup final at the Allianz Stadium on September 27 from Allwyn, which is the operator of the National Lottery.
The gifts and hospitality register will be updated each quarter, according to the combined authority website.
