Harrogate has a new contemporary art gallery.
Millesime Art Gallery opened its doors on Royal Parade last week.
Sharing floorspace with Horus Hearing, the gallery showcases a wide range of works from various independent artists. Prices range from around £300 to £12,000.
The Stray Ferret visited the gallery today to speak with 25-year-old owner Will Fosbrook, who told us why he set up in Harrogate:
I’ve always liked art: Picasso, Banksy, Hockney. I worked in a gallery while at university in Nottingham and decided I wanted to set up my own. I have an online gallery, but I want people to appreciate the art properly. The only way to do that is for them to see it in person, so I set up here. I’m from Cheshire: I tried to replicate that model of Chester with Harrogate – they’re similar towns.

Mr Fosbrook said that he wants to bolster the creative industry in Harrogate, adding that he didn’t want to set up “just another coffee shop”.
He believes that his gallery will give independent artists more exposure.
Millesime Art Gallery is open from 9.30am to 6pm Monday to Saturday, and from 10am to 4pm on Sundays.
