The Hub at Knaresborough, which is run by Autism Plus.

A national autism charity has opened a new site near Knaresborough.

Autism Plus, which has head offices in Sheffield, has expanded its operations with a new facility in Knaresborough.

The charity will be based at Firecrest House at Lingerfield Business Park, on Market Flat Lane in Scotton.

The new site will include The Hub, which will offer activities for participants designed to build to their confidence, such as arts and crafts, music, media and horticulture.

It will also offer training and work placements tailored for young adults with autism.

In addition, the site features the artisan chocolate social enterprise, Park House Barns, where trainees gain hands-on experience and work placements in chocolate crafting, packaging, and administration.

Philip Bartey, chief executive at Autism Plus, said:

We are incredibly proud to open our new Knaresborough site. It allows us to expand our programmes and offer even more opportunities to young adults with autism and learning disabilities.

This site will be a hub for skill-building and personal development, all while continuing our tradition of producing high-quality, handmade artisan Belgian chocolates.

Autism Plus was founded in 1986 to support adults and young people with autism, learning disabilities, mental health conditions and complex needs.

Since then, it has expanded to five sites across the north of England in Sheffield, York, Hull, Doncaster and Knaresborough.

The charity employs 450 people.
