Travellers passing through Harrogate railway station look set to be able to stop for a coffee and bite to eat from next month.

The unit has been taken by Gourmet Coffee Bar & Kitchen, a national chain with about 40 coffee shops and kiosks at railway stations across England and Wales.

The Stray Ferret understands that the new café is likely to open in early September.

People working at the station were told by a manager from landlord Northern Rail this morning that it would open “in a couple of weeks”.

The unit was previously occupied by The Secret Bakery, but was repossessed by agents acting for Northern in February 2025.

The unit is being marketed by the Leeds of national commercial property agent Lambert Smith Hampton.

Meanwhile, the unit that was occupied by Superstop Convenience Store from 2025 to 2026 remains vacant after the Bradford-based company left.

The premises were formerly occupied by award-winning newsagent The Bookstall, from 1990 to 2020.
